What is a urologist?

A urologist is a doctor that specializes in the male reproductive system and the urinary system in men and women: from the kidneys to the urethra (including the bladder) and the prostate in male patients. Urologists treat various problems and diseases, such as:

  • kidney and bladder stones;
  • condyloma;
  • interstitial cystitis;
  • overactive bladder;
  • incontinence;
  • bladder pain;
  • vaginal atrophy;
  • vulvar lichen sclerosus;
  • prostate cancer;
  • testosterone deficiency;
  • erectile dysfunction;
  • infectious balanitis;
  • short brake;
  • benign prostate hypertrophy

Urologists also perform surgeries or medical examinations such as:

  • circumcision for adults or children;
  • vasectomy and vasectomy reversal;
  • cystoscopy (endoscopic examination of the bladder)

Urologists undergo extensive university training

Any urologist practicing in Québec holds an undergraduate degree in medicine (4 or 5 years) and has completed a 5-year residency in urology. Practical experience in hospital and clinic settings helps consolidate the knowledge they acquired over the course of their studies. In turn, urologists are able to make precise diagnoses, prescribe the most suitable treatments and to master various surgeries.

Why choose us as your Urologist

To provide the full range of diagnostic services and minor urological surgical services in the private sector. At the Clinic Marois, we always offer an organized and accessible service in a friendly environment. The services offered are minimally invasive and suitable for minor surgery room in private practice. Our clinic’s environment is welcoming to promote a positive experience. Furthermore, minor urological surgeries requiring general or spinal anesthesia are carried out in a private hospital, accredited with an honor award.

Why choose a private urologist?

Rapid service

By using a private urologist like Dr. Marois, Dr Ouellette or Dr Sajous, you will get a consultation much faster than if you were to go through the public health network. The same goes for surgeries: you will usually get an appointment in just a few weeks, whereas you might wait several months before getting an operation in the public sector.

Avoid the waiting lists and contact us now.

An appointment without a referra

If you need to consult a urologist (or any other specialist), the Québec health system will first require you to obtain a referral from a general practitioner (or family doctor) in order to access their care services.

By opting instead for a private urologist in Laval, Québec City or elsewhere in the province, you can make an appointment with our urologists directly, without needing a referral.

Personalized service and comprehensive care

Private urology clinics offer patients unparalleled post-procedural support and guidance. Available and attentive to his patients’ needs and concerns, our urologists and nursing staff are available to answer your questions, ease your fears and keep you updated about your state of health.

Your private urologist

With Dr. Marois, Dr. Ouellette and Dr. Sajous, your health is in good hands.
Practicing medicine since the late 1990's, Dr. Marois, Dr. Ouellette or Dr. Sajous, offer their patients deep experience in the field of urology: after making a correct diagnosis, they will propose the most suitable treatment for you and your needs. Whether you visit them in the clinics in St-Hubert, Laval or Québec City, they will take care of you every step of the way: from the initial consultation to the operation, to post-operative follow-up.

When should I consult a urologist?

Here are a few examples of aggravating factors that can increase the risk of developing a urological condition.

  • If you have very frequent sexual relations, prostatitis or diabetes, if you are pregnant or if you are 65 years of age or older: you are more at risk of developing a urinary tract infection. If you have any symptoms, do not hesitate to consult us.
  • If you eat very salty foods, if you suffer from a calcium deficiency or if you do not hydrate enough: you are at a greater risk of developing urinary lithiasis (kidney stones). If you have any symptoms, please contact us
  • If you are a smoker or are overweight, you are at greater risk of suffering from infertility or even prostate cancer. Should you have any questions or concerns, please consult us.

It's better to prevent...

It can’t be said often enough: the best treatment is prevention. Be alert and watch for changes in your body. If you suspect a urological problem, be aware that the urologist offers a variety of screening tests.

Why should I choose your urology clinic?

At the Cliniques Marois, we offer organized and accessible service in a warm and inviting environment. At all our clinics, we perform various minor surgical procedures to simplify your life and prevent you from having to visit us unnecessarily in the future. I choose to visit Dr. Marois after abdominal complications. I took an appointment for Friday April 17. Dr. Marois  has a very calm demeanor. He listened carefully to my history, reviewed my previous tests and gave me careful examination. He then outlined the problem and then gave me three paths to follow (physio and lifestyle as well as medical). Reflecting on this a day after, I think the most important ingredient was he put me at ease of mind with respect to the problem and the opinions he gave me will hopefully help resolve the issue in the long run. Thank you Dr. Marois

We are so happy that you had a positive and reassuring experience at our clinics! Thank you for your comment!
