Although you can still have a uroflowmetry done at Cliniques Marois, our urologists now offer patients the option to use an innovative new app called UroFlow. This mobile MenHealth® app lets you measure your urine flow from the privacy of your own home.
Simply press the "START" button and urinate in the toilet. The app will automatically generate your flow results. You can then send the test results directly to your urologist.
When should you perform a uroflowmetry?
- If you have dysuria (difficulty urinating)
- If you have pollakiuria (frequent or infrequent urination)
- If you have urinary incontinence (overflow)
- If you have prostate hypertrophy
- Before procedures that may alter your urinary flow, such as TURP surgery, Rezūm therapy and Optilume treatment
What are the advantages of doing this at home?
- You can perform a uroflowmetry in the comfort of your own home without the wait or stress of needing to have a full bladder
- You can repeat the test as often as you like with unlimited annual access
- You can compare the results of your questionnaires and voiding diaries over time
- You can easily send your report to a clinic for follow-up
How do I get the app?
You must have a smartphone. Cliniques Marois will send you an invitation link to create a patient account on MyUroflow.com. This will prompt you to download the app. Please make sure you open the hyperlink or the invitation email on your smartphone.
How does the app work?
- Place your phone face up on any flat surface within two to three feet (60 to 90 centimetres) of the toilet.
- Press the “START” button and wait a few seconds for the app to measure the background noise.
- IMPORTANT: please make sure you’re in a quiet room
- Once the flow measurement screen appears, start urinating while standing.
- Aim at the surface of the water.
- The test must be done in a quiet room.
- Once you’re done, press the “FINISH” button.
What else can the app do?
You can use the app’s dashboard to complete a BPH symptom scoring questionnaire (IPSS questionnaire), view your most recent test results and track your urine flow on the history graph.
