This procedure treats sebaceous cysts on the penis or scrotum.

First, the skin is disinfected. Then, the local anesthetic is administered. An incision is made in the skin and the cyst is carefully dissected and excised. Minor bleeding is managed using electrocautery. The incision is then closed with dissolvable sutures. Typically, Tylenol is adequate for relieving post-operative pain. Avoid showering and strenuous physical activity for 24 hours after the procedure. Baths are allowed  48 hours after the procedure.

Surgical excision of genital lesions

What’s a sebaceous cyst?

A sebaceous cyst is a cyst that looks like a ball. It’s hard to the touch and develops under the skin.

Are sebaceous cysts a severe health problem?

Sebaceous cysts are benign and generally harmless. However, there’s a moderate risk of infection. Excision is usually performed for esthetic reasons.
